STRENGTHENING INTERNAL MECHANISMS TOWARDS GREATER ZAAR COMMUNITY

Every community or society in the world has its objectives in line with cultural, indegenous persons and societal needs. Zaar land has over the years struggled towards self emancipation and have experienced tremendous growth in the aspect of education, economy and political engagements. As a result, the collective struggle of the Zaar nation produced the Speaker, House of Representatives and the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Tetfund) and many high ranking personalities too numerous to mention here. In addition, the land has experienced infrastructural development and job opportunities to the benefit of many Zaar sons and daughters. Many Zaarites have delved into entrepreneurial enterprises within the locality and across other cities in the country and and even beyond with Progressive achievements.

There is no gain-saying that in every achievement, there will always be setbacks in some aspects of life. The land is still craving for its perceived greatest achievement in history; 'Zaar Chiefdom'. This has been a tussle for over 5 decades and the Bauchi state government that has the final say on the issue has not exhibited the political will to ensure the approval of the chiefdom, despite clear recommendations made by the Justice Babalakin Commission of Inquiry into the 1991 Tafawa Balewa communal clash. Of recent, some saboteurs hiding under the auspices of government have made frantic effort to frustrate the process. These saboteurs influence certain recommendations raised by internal committees inaugurated by the state government towards citing the Chiefdom Headquarters outside the historical location of Zaar (Tafawabalewa) which is not in line with Justice Babalakin's recommendations. Such act has always received rejection from indigenous persons coupled with the inaction of the state government which we considered as a deliberate act to a game as played in chess.

The 2011 Chieftaincy law towards the creation of Zaar chiefdom was enacted without due process and proper consultations of relevant stake holders in Zaar land. The law was lopsided without giving considerations to Zaar historical background and cultural heritage.

With the aforementioned background, it is clear that Zaarites are against a bigger adversary that has the power to undermine the due process of achieving the long-awaited chiefdom despite fulfilling all the requirements.

Since we cannot fight the government on a fair ground, It is on this note that I wish to divert the attention of my kinsmen towards a bigger course; "strengthening our internal mechanisms towards greater efficiency".
As we revert to our internal mechanisms, we should put more energy inward than outward.

What are our internal mechanisms?
  1. Preparing a place (befitting palace) where our Gung Zaar (leader) is going to stay in Pusji and administer the affairs of the community.
  2. Working on our internal unity in diversity. Those working against our unity should be identified and isolated.
  3. Improving upon our allegiance to our selected leader and making the world recognize him as our voice so that everyone dealing with us will come through him.
  4. Improving on poverty index of indigenous people towards self-reliance and economic emancipation to avoid negative exploitations and reduce crime rates.
  5. Improving on our local security network towards securing ourselves and investments in the land.
  6. Utilizing our land and God given resources to improve our economy.
  7. Encouraging investments by indigenous persons to bring in more money to the land and also attract investors from other places.
  8. Improve on our moral values, character development and respect for elders.
I stand to be corrected, none of the above stated mechanisms goes contrary to any Nigerian law. Achieving those key mechanisms will make us self-reliant and very organized.
Furthermore, because of our political relevance in the state, they will surely come looking for us one way or the other, this will surely grant us the privilege to push our demands forward.

Nothing is impossible to achieve with God and good intents.
