SAYAWA LEPM ZAAR ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF ARTS AND CULTURE

ISOZI Bauchi, October 25th, 2023.

It is a given that a group of people's culture is reflected in their way of life. They accept things based on a combination of their behaviors, beliefs, values, and symbols. The fact that culture is the foundation of every human being means that to forsake it is to deny one's ancestry and roots.

The Lemph Zaar, a cultural celebration of the Zaar (Sayawa) tribe in the Bauchi state local governments of Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro, is now acknowledged as a significant event in Bauchi state, the northern region of Nigeria, and all of Africa.

Every first Saturday in November, the festival is held. The Zaar (Sayawa) people, who are primarily farmers, celebrate the fee to signal the start of the harvest. The celebration is held in Tafawa Balewa town, which is where the Sayawa people's ancestors first lived.

The Tafawa Balewa town consistently draws large crowds as they congregate there to enjoy the Lepm Zaar yearly cultural event, which takes place in Zaar Sayawa.

A wide range of notable individuals, cultural organizations, business leaders, and well-wishers from near and far attended the outstanding cultural event to spread the message of peace and harmony both within and outside the region. A warning regarding the crises in ethnic faiths was also included.

The town of Tafawa Balewa is also referred to as an economic powerhouse because its residents engage in a variety of trades in addition to farming to increase their wealth.

In order to teach and instill the history to the younger generation for long-term future commitment, the festival showcased Sayawas political, social, and economic lives through ethnic dress, song, and dance. With their colorful retinue of guards, important traditional rulers from Bauchi and neighboring states, in addition to the political class, brought splendor to the event.

The theme of this year's event is "Reconciliation: A panacea for peaceful coexistence which will bring about changing the narrative of mistrust and suspicion that is pervasive in Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro as the need for peaceful coexistence and tolerance with one another for the growth and development of the Zaar land, Bauchi State and Nigeria at large.

At the occasion, Sayawa and non-Sayawa ethnic groups could be seen doing beautiful dance routines for invited officials while wearing their distinctive traditional attire and playing a variety of drums.

Come and join us on every first Saturday of November at Central Primary School Tafawa Balewa as we converge to celebrate our annual cultural festival of Thanksgiving thereby displaying our reach culture and arts.
