Open Letter to Zaar Youth: A Call for Unity and Strategic Engagement in Politics

ISOZI,

Mr. L. B. Halan

L.B. Halan, a passionate advocate for the progress and unity of the Zaar people, shared a thought-provoking message with Zaar youth on the ISOZI WhatsApp platform. In a continuation of his previous appeal, Halan urged the youth to channel their energy into meaningful political participation and collective development rather than becoming entangled in local disputes.

In his letter, Halan began by addressing the importance of Zaar youth stepping up to shape a brighter future for themselves and future generations. He emphasized the need for strategic political engagement, noting that focusing on local positions and titles within community associations such as ZAYODA and ZDA often leads to unnecessary conflicts. These associations, while important, should not be seen as the ultimate goal for the youth’s aspirations.

“Remember, these associations can only exercise authority within our local communities and do not have the constitutional mandate to bring a single developmental project to our land or command any level of influence outside the shores of Bauchi state,” Halan said. He stressed that ZAYODA and ZDA should serve as pressure groups advocating for better governance and equity, rather than being a source of division among Zaar people.

Halan reminded the youth of the potential they possess, citing their high levels of education and intellect. He expressed concern that Zaar youth often settle for lesser roles when their peers in other regions are already making significant strides at state and federal levels. "Why should our Zaar youth, who are well-educated, if not the most educated in the state, settle for anything less?" he asked.

One of the key issues Halan raised was the manipulation of youth by politicians who offer minimal rewards in exchange for blind loyalty. He criticized the tendency for young people to fight political battles that ultimately do not serve the best interests of the Zaar people. "The real fight is between Zaar people and our oppressors, not between Zaar youth and their fellow brothers," Halan stated, urging his peers to reject short-term gains that compromise long-term progress.

He also reminded the youth of the sacrifices made by previous generations, asking whether the achievements of their elders would have been possible if they had fought among themselves. Halan called for unity, quoting U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris: “None of us has to fail for all of us to succeed. And in unity, there is strength.”
In his appeal, Halan emphasized the need for collaboration, suggesting that Zaar youth should support each other’s initiatives and work collectively to build a better Zaarland. He stressed that unity is crucial for safeguarding the future of the Zaar people and for serving as an example to other minority tribes facing similar challenges in the region.

Concluding his letter, Halan called upon Zaar youth to aspire to greatness, focus on leadership roles that can truly impact their community, and reject being used as political tools. “Together, we can break free from the cycle of infighting, reject the role of political puppets, and position ourselves as leaders who will guide Zaarland into a future of prosperity and progress.”
